How to produce high-pressure polyethylene pipes
The raw material for the production of these products, as their name suggests, is polyethylene. This chemical is produced in different grades. Previously, raw materials that are no longer produced were used in the production of high-pressure polyethylene pipes. Today, only PE100 grade is used in the pipe industry. Most of the production cost comes from the cost of supplying the raw material.
Parameters affecting the pressure resistance of the pipe
Today’s polyethylene pipes made with PE100 raw material do not necessarily need to be very thick to withstand high pressure. However, the higher the thickness of the pipe, the better the pressure resistance. The thickness and high diameter of the pipe simultaneously cause more raw material consumption. This high consumption will increase the price of the pipe.
Uses of high-pressure polyethylene pipes
The question that arises is the use of high-pressure polyethylene pipes. In which industries and for what types of fluids they are used.
High-volume water transfer and water reception from pumping stations: High-pressure polyethylene pipes are generally used in large projects. For example, these products are used to transfer large volumes of water or at the outlet and inlet of pumping stations.
Sewage piping: High-pressure polyethylene pipes are made in three types. The application for which the pipe is prepared is determined by the color of the stripes on the pipe. Blue symbolizes water transfer, yellow indicates gas transfer, and finally red is used for sewage transfer.
Gas transfer: As we said, gas transfer is possible with this type of pipe. Due to the long life of polyethylene pipes and its resistance to corrosion, using polyethylene is a suitable option in the petrochemical industry.
Other uses of high-pressure polyethylene pipes include pressure irrigation. Basically, the agricultural sector requires light, low-cost, and durable pipes. Polyethylene pipes can withstand pressures of 2 to 32 atmospheres. In addition, polyethylene pipes are relatively more flexible and their various parts are easy to connect and install. Therefore, polyethylene pipes are a suitable option for equipping agricultural lands with a pressurized irrigation system.
